Julia Bolchoz Obituary

Julia Elizabeth Bolchoz MT. PLEASANT - On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, Julia Elizabeth (Beth) Bolchoz passed away in her home in Mount Pleasant. She is survived by her husband, Sam Epstein; her stepsons, Zack, Elliot and Coby; her sisters, Michelle, Leslie, Lee and Eve; her brothers, Cole and Gene; her aunts, Caroline, Collie, Peggy and Marylou; her uncle, Tim; and her dogs, Bandit and Cash. Beth was a loving wife, a caring sibling, a loyal friend, and a cheerful co-worker. She had an indomitable spirit that met every challenge with a radiant smile. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed with her presence in their lives. Beth was born in Charleston, South Carolina to parents, Eugene and Linda Bolchoz. She grew up in Charleston and Newberry. Beth enjoyed a long and successful career as a hair stylist and barber. Beth was a gifted artist. That artistry was manifest in her beautiful paintings, which were reflective of her bright and colorful spirit; and in her gardening, where each flower was a perfectly placed brushstroke. When she cut hair, every snip was rendered with the same esthetic she brought to a canvas. Beth was insatiably curious, ever wanting to peek behind the curtain to see what makes things tick. She loved programs about science and technology. Life with her was like being a permanent extra on the set of NOVA. Beth was a devout Christian who believed that one day she would be welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior. We can take comfort in knowing that although Beth has taken her light into another room, a glimmer of that light will brighten our lives so long as we keep her memory alive. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you consider making a gift to the Mental Health Program at the MUSC Childrens Hospital. Gifts in memory can be made out to the MUSC Foundation and sent to the MUSC Childrens Hospital Fund - 59 Bee Street, MSC 201, Charleston, SC 29425. Gifts can be made online at musckids.org. The memorial service will be at Unity Church on Leeds Ave. Sat., October 2nd, from 11am to 1. We encourage those attending to be vaccinated and wear a mask. Please come join us in celebrating her life. Wear Bright and comfortable clothing. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

I just learned of Beth´s passing today and my heart is heavy for her family and friends for this loss. I met Beth in the neighborhood we grew up in and reconnected later on Facebook. When I think of Beth, I remember her smile and cheerful and kind demeanor.

We had just met Beth a few weeks ago for my girls first hair cut and She had the best heart. She had a magical way with my girls and was amazing at what she did. She was so sweet, kind and caring to them (she was even crawling around on the floor to get down on their level to cut their hair). I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing and that we won´t get to see her next time. Heaven gained an amazing angel and so fortunate she touched our lives that day in a positive way. Peace, love and hugs to family and friends of sweet Beth!!

I was sadly shocked yesterday when I saw Beth's obituary. She was too young. She was my only barber for 26 years and, if I may say, became a friend, as well. She was the best at what she did, was a positive person, and always had something funny to share. She was the "light of the shop" at Jeff's Barbering. She will be missed. Rest in peace.
