Judith Gardner Obituary

GARDNER, Judith DURHAM, N.C. - Judith Messenger Gardner, 81, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday morning in Duke Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Lillian Fruchtman of Durham, N.C. Judy and Isadore moved to Durham in 1966 with their daughter, the late Eileen Messenger Eggleston. Judy was an energetic and dynamic mother and grandmother who worked in the retail sector most of her life. She worked for Bob Ellis Shoe Store Charleston, North American Video, Belks Department Store and the Herald Sun Paper in Durham, prior to her retirement in 1999. She is survived by her son, Gary Howard Messenger of Durham, N.C., her daughter, Adrienne Messenger Tuchman of Charleston and her sister, Arliene London of West Palm Beach, Fla.; her granddaughter, Michelle Gregory of Charleston and her grandson Jake Messenger of Durham, N.C. Graveside services were held Thursday, December 9, at 1:15 p.m., in Durham Hebrew Cemetery by Rabbi Steven Sager.
