Judith Clark Obituary

Judith Ann Gary Clark

September 25, 1940 – August 4, 2025

Age 84

Judith "Judy" Ann Gary Clark passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, at the age of 84, in Corpus Christi, TX. She leaves behind a loving family: her devoted husband, David E. Clark, Jr.; her daughter, Donna Ann Lawson and husband Timothy H. Painschab of Corpus Christi, TX; her son, Steven Dean Lawson and wife Lauren of Chattanooga, TN; and her step-daughter, Jackie Clark Spencer of Cedar Park, TX. She is also survived by her two brothers: Perry E. Gary, Jr. and wife Yoshiko of Tokyo, Japan and William Howard Gary of Olympia, WA.

She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren-Timothy G. Painschab, Justin C. Spencer and wife Jenay, Chelsea Lawson Moore and husband Ben, and Madison Spencer Robertson and her husband Jesse-were her pride and joy. Her great-granddaughters-Bella Spencer, Leila Robertson, Matilda Moore, Magnolia Moore, and Willa Robertson-added sparkle to her days. Judy was never happier than when her whole family was gathered under one roof, filling the house with laughter, love, and just a little bit of chaos.

Judy was known for her infectious laughter and vibrant personality. She had a gift for bringing joy to others, whether through her humor, her colorful sense of style, or her creative spirit. A passionate tennis player, she played regularly with her husband and best girlfriends and traveled with them to compete in matches across the U.S. Her love of crafting was evident in everything she touched-from painting household items to decorating hats with rhinestones and even polishing walls with shoe polish.

Judy was a member of Tarrytown United Methodist Church, where she served as the unofficial joke teller in her close-knit Swift Sunday School class. She was a gifted cook and cake decorator, known for delighting family and friends with her culinary creations. Everything Judy did was infused with love, creativity, and joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Settlement Home for Children in Austin, TX where she and David volunteered countless hours.

More about Judy Clark. Judy knew just about every restaurant and interesting shop in the state of Texas. She always knew exactly where to find the best hamburgers, barbecue, fried green tomatoes or kolaches, but she did not eat seafood.

Judy and I were tennis partners for many years. We delighted in beating much younger players, who thought we would be easy targets! Judy had every shot in the book, and younger opponents would be amazed at her speed and versatility on the court. We also played bridge together. A perfect day was tennis in the morning and lunch and shopping in the afternoon and bridge in the evening, especially during a weekend at Port Aransas. Judy's repertoire of jokes and her joke telling skills were legendary. She is greatly missed and will never be forgotten.

I was so sorry to hear of Judy´s passing. I used to play tennis with her at CYTC years ago. She was an amazing player! I loved that she´d start the match by telling us all a joke.
I will miss her very much. My condolences to her family.
