Joyce Howard Obituary

Joyce Reeder Bath Howard Mt. Pleasant - Joyce Reeder Bath Howard, age 82, widow of Kenneth Daniel Howard, died Thursday, April 29, 2021 in Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Howard was born in Charleston to the late Ernest Manning Reeder and Ruth Reynolds Reeder. She was a graduate of the College of Charleston, where she was a member of the Phi Mu Fraternity. She taught at Brookland-Cayce High School in Columbia, South Carolina and was later employed by the Naval Supply Center on the Charleston Naval Base as a Management Analyst and Methods Engineer. She is survived by her son, Steven Manning Bath; daughter-in-law, Wendalyn Weaver Bath; and grandson, Thomas Manning Bath. Although an only child, she loved her many cousins and was as close to them as any siblings could be. Joyce was active in her church community. At St. Peters Episcopal Church, she led the youth choir and taught Sunday school. In her later years as a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church, she recruited and coordinated the greeters and gift bearers, a job perfectly suited to her love of talking to anyone. Joyce's love of and commitment to family was constantly expressed in her care taking. She was ever present in times of need. Her smile brought joy to many and her tenderness touched the hearts of those she cared for and those that cared for her. Her son and grandson were the light of her eyes and she never missed a moment to share her pride in them. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Mcalister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. The service will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 10 AM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. The burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joyce`s memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
