Joy Lancaster Obituary

Joy Amos Lancaster DALEVILLE, VA - Joy Amos Lancaster, age 79, of Daleville, Va., died on December 10, 2009, at The Glebe Nursing Home in Daleville. She was born on January 25, 1930, in Bassett, Va. to the late Paul Leonard Amos and Ethel Evelyn Shaffer Amos. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Ward Beecher Lancaster in 1994, her brother, Calvin Amos and one sister, Gretchen Amos Miller. She was a member of Melrose Baptist Church in Roanoke and a former member of Ashley River Baptist Church in Charleston, SC. Mrs. Lancaster was a retired homemaker having raised four children with her husband, and in later years enjoyed her grandchildren and many friends. She is survived by two sons, Ward Lynn Lancaster of Bloomington, IL and Paul Dayton Lancaster of Millboro, VA, two daughters, Pamela Lancaster Park of San Antonio, TX and Deborah Lancaster Mankin of Summerville, SC, two sisters, Mary Lou Amos Young of Chesapeake, Va and Edith Amos Martin of Horsepasture, VA, nine grandchildren, Douglas A. Park, Brian A. Park, Julia M. Drum, Kevin A. Park, Jason P. Lancaster, Colin W. Lancaster, Michael E. Mankin, Alyson L. Childrey, and Evan A. Lancaster and one great-grandson, Quinn A. Park. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 14, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Sherrard of Millboro, VA officiating the service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 14, 2009, from 9:30-11 a.m., in the chapel of Roselawn. The family suggests that Memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Arrangements are by ROSELAWN CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME.
