Joshua Sovreign Weeks, Jr. Charleston - Joshua Sovreign Weeks, Jr., 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Barbara Shuler Weeks went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 25, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 in James Island Baptist Church, 2023 Wappoo Drive at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, February 2, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Joshua was born August 31, 1927 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Joshua S. Weeks, Sr., and Zona Turner Weeks. He attended University of South Carolina and then served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Joshua was the owner of J.S. Weeks & Company until his retirement. He was a Charter member of James Island Baptist Church. Joshua loved Jesus Christ first and foremost and his family. He loved his yard work, woodworking, reading, collecting stamps and coins. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Joshua had a great sense of humor, quick wit and just loved Life. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Weeks of Charleston, SC; daughter, Sandra Weeks Honeycutt (Bill ) of Folly Beach, SC; two sons, David Joshua Weeks (Joy) of Guyton, GA, Daniel William Weeks (Jennifer) of Meggett, SC; seven grandchildren, Trey Truluck (Kelly), Kimberly Truluck-Hamilton, Taylor Weeks, Cooper Weeks, Quinn Weeks, Leila Weeks, Joshua Weeks; six great-grandchildren, Alicia Truluck, Zachary Truluck, Malia Hamilton, Kailyn Truluck, Kaylee Hamilton, Liana Hamilton; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Strickland. The family would like to thank Visiting Angels of Mount Pleasant and Hospice of S.C. for their tender loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to James Island Baptist Church, 2023 Wappoo Drive, James Island, SC 29412 and/or Hospice of South Carolina, 300 N Cedar St, Summerville, SC 29483.
