Dear Joe, Our hearts go out to you and your wife and the entire family for the loss of Josh. We learned of his passing after returning home a week later and felt so completely helpless for words to describe our sadness. I am still at a loss for words, only that we love you and pray for you all daily.

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child and I can’t imagine the pain you are feeling. I did not know Josh, but my son Cody Hart was one of the “River Boys” who spent many years with him at vacation bible school. Cody thought the world of Josh and is saddened over the loss of his friend. Cody has shared his memories of times spent with Josh at the River; through his memories I’ve learned that Josh was a kind hearted and a loving young man.
Know that every single person who was fortunate enough to know Josh in even a small way was made richer and better for the experience. Josh will forever remain part of the heart and spirit of all who knew and loved him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you through this time of overwhelming grief. May God comfort you and give you peace, and just rejoice on all of Josh’s memories!

I saw at your home love, opportunities for exploration, support, community, closeness and a side of your family that I really didn't know about. I have missed a lot! I want to know more. I can clearly remember Ora Lee and Carol sitting under the Deer Head Oak with Will and Josh, arguing over who had the most beautiful red-headed boy. I can remember also thinking it was a draw. They both were, and will always be, so precious and sweet. Josh has been such an important part of my family, and we will always love him.

Maria Palma and I are deeply saddened to learn of Josh's sudden passing. Maria and I both appreciated Josh as a student and a basketball player. He was very attentive and always tried his best. I remember that Josh always remained stout-hearted in games and played as hard as he could until the buzzer sounded. Maria enjoyed having Josh as a student because he always showed respect to the teacher and to the learning process. He was an exceptional Spanish student.

Hugh Scott and I always felt like Josh had a high basketball IQ, and that he made good decisions on the court, even at a young age. He will be missed as a student, basketball player, but most importantly as a person.

We pray that the Holy Spirit will help you in this time of grief. We pray that you will have the love and support from the people of McClellanville and the other surrounding communities.
