Joseph Yancy Obituary

Joseph (Benji) Yancy Charleston - Joseph Benjamin Yancy, 'Joe/Benji', of Charleston, SC, died August 23, 2021. Joseph who loved the Lord would want Glory given first to the King of Kings & Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ for his salvation found as a young man & passionately lit again as an adult. He loved to be in His Presence during praise & worship at Seacoast Church, always on the front row. He was a Charleston native, born on March 5, 1977, son of Marvin Wayne Yancy & Louise Mildred Livingston Yancy of N. Chas, SC, whom showed Ben what God joined together could never be severed by man, this he believed, & lived through his marriage to Kristen Ann (LeVaur) Yancy for 20 years this October 4. He is survived by his only child, Tyler Joel Robert Michael LeVaur of Clemson, SC. He is also survived by his brother, Cody, s-i-l, Ashley, niece, Piper & nephew, Jackson Bannevich; by his mother-in-law & confidante, Ann Lavern Huntington LeVaur, Kandi Estep, brother-in-law, Herman John LeVaur II, s-i-l, Sonya & nieces, Megan & Jenna LeVaur. Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Amy Melissa Yancy, grandmother, Lois Elrod Livingston & grandfather, PH Livingston, who was lovingly emulated by Benji. His mother Louise raised him to have strong ties for the entire Livingston family, including special bonds like his Uncle David and cousins, Matt, Harrison, Angie & over 40 aunts, uncles & cousins & his Godson, Jesse Hayden. Benji was liked & loved by them all as he valued hard work, humility, philanthropy & the rewards of living for the Lord. He loved to spoil his family, providing for them was the fuel for his drive. He took the most pride in & had the pleasure of watching his son earn 2 BS degrees in Computer & Electrical Engineering /minor Mathematics & who is pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Clemson Univ. Besides Sunday, Auction Day was his favorite day. Every Thurs you could find him at Liberty Auction House in Pembroke, GA, where he established an enthusiasm for antiques & oddities from a time he greatly admired. He had an undying love for cars, Hondas, basketball at Danny Jones & table tennis at the Armory. He was in a weekly Men's Small Group at the Seacoast West Ashley campus, where his Memorial Service will be held September 5, 2021 at 2 pm. Please, in lieu of flowers, make offerings to Seacoast Church in his honor to be a "Way Maker", 2049 Savannah Hwy, Charleston, SC 29407. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

I will miss you catfish. You were a wonderful person. You struggled and over came many things. Hard things. You became a Man to be proud of. Your Granddaddy would be so proud of you.
But at this time you know that, because I'm sure that was the first person you went to see in Heaven.

Oh Benji. There are no words to even express how saddened I am to learn of your passing. I will always remember all of us growing up together. We would all gather at the beach house or at Grandmomma & Granddaddy's house on Braddock. Usually, every weekend something was going on. How lucky we were to have such a close family. I'll always remember the happy times. Even as our adult years we stayed close. Fast forward to the last year when you'd call just to check on me. Thank you for that. I hope you know how much that meant to me. I am at peace knowing that you are now with Amy, our grandparents, my brothers, and Momma. In the presence of Our Lord. Hug them for me and please watch over us. Much love from all of us Benji, Tesscia.
