Joseph Shumate Obituary
Preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Shumate, on May 24, 2010.
Survived by his daughter, Suzann Duede, of Carson; son, Joseph Shumate, Jr., of La Follette, Tenn.; sisters, Mildred Jones and husband, Kenny, of La Follette, and Pearl Fleagle and husband, Harold, of Bradford, Ohio; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation at the Hertz Funeral Home in Carson, Wednesday, August 25, 2010, with family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services with Masonic Rites are Thursday, August 26, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at the Carson United Methodist Church with Military Honors and Interment at the Carson Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Joe and I became friends at Mercy Hospital, pulmonary rehab. We shared a
love of music and spent many good times discussing his years of playing in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area. He was a good friend and will be greatly
missed.
