I believe this is the Joey Riner that lived near Apollo Road in Charleston, SC. I used to come over his house and play when I was younger. I lived at 1060 Keats Road in East Oak Forest, right next to where he lived. I assume we met at Albemarle Elementary School off of Magnolia Road. I also went to St. Andrews High School with him.
I still tell the story to my sister for getting me in trouble for going over to Joey Riner's house. I told her to tell my mom when she called back that I was going to his house to play. Well, to get me in trouble, when my mom called back, my sister told her that she didn't know where I went. My dad drove up where Joey and I were playing in the front yard signaling for me to get in the car. Well I still blame my sister for getting a whipping for that.
I am very sad to see his passing, because I was looking forward to look him up when I moved back to Charleston since I retired.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Matthew will miss his father dearly. I pray that he will take comfort with the Riner family and keep Joe's memory alive.
