Eileen - I cannot express the shock and sadness I felt when my brother Tom called and informed me of Jay's passing.
It feels like yesterday that we we kids growing up on Ave R - how fast life goes bye. I wish we had stayed in touch over the years but I have thought of the Keegan family many times in the last 40 years never forgetting how you helped me in my move to Maryland and putting up with me for a few months.
May Jay RIP and God Bless the Keegan Family. Jimmy Rice

Dear Eileen and the wonderful Keegan family,
We were very sad to to hear about Jay. We have great memories of of all of you here in Ireland. He will be a wonderful man and we will all miss him so much.
The first time I met Jay he was drafted in as the newbie at Bulls Bay and us Irish knew that this big larger than life American was going to fit right in to our little group. He went out of his way at every opportunity to make our stay in the states a memory of a lifetime.
Then he came to Ireland and it was our turn to show them a good time and Jay was in his element. He was so proud to be Irish and his roots. I then had the privilege of looking after Eileen and their beautiful family in Mayo for a week and I was made one of his family. My daughter Gina came over to ballinahinch to bring a member of the family to the airport early and she was brought in and put right in the middle of the table and the craic was brilliant all night. Jay sat at the table as proud as punch and my lasting memory is Jay sitting there with a smile a mile wide. Then he and Eileen came to my parents for a BBQ and it was our turn to make him part of our family and let me practice my cooking skills on them and it was another enjoyable day.
Jay was one of those people who I can call a true friend and this world is a much sadder place without Jay in it. All the boys here send their respect and on 1st Nov we met for a game of golf in Jay's memory and talked about the good times we all had with Jay. Where ever you are my friend I hope you're on a beautiful golf course and getting lots of practice in for the next time we get a game in. Take care my friend. Ya reis de go rev se or in English: rest in peace.

Dear Eileen and the wonderful Keegan family,
I loved Jay's zest for life. I will always remember that great smile as he was proudly navigating his family in the golf cart/float in the Wild Dunes Thanksgiving Day parades. I will always remember his great hospitality as well. Finally, he was a joy to work for. He made a postive impact on so many people's lives--including mine. God bless you all!
Sincerely,
Mike Tongour

I personally have known Jay for 30 years (and his beautiful wife and family.) My wife, Linda, and I send our deepest sympathies.
Everyone will certainly remember the wonderful career and impact Jay had on the people who were blessed enough to know him. Of course so will we. However, we will also always remember the "way" he comported himself as a truly caring man with a wonderful spirit that naturally attracted so many people.

Our families prayers are with the family of Jay Keegan. We were shocked to here what had happen. Jay was my first executive I worked for at Sea-Land, and throughout my 7 year career he was always available and provided guidance. We pray the family finds peace and strength to carry on Jay's legacy. I have posted on LinkedIn Sea-Land Alumni information regarding Jay. We have over 1,000 alumni from Asia, Europe, Middle East and the USA who have commented on how much he meant to them. I attach a photo from January 1998 when we all were at the Greenbrier. Rest in peace, and God bless you all, from the the Fuentes Family
