Joseph Gerrity Obituary

Joseph Patrick Gerrity, 57, of Barney Street, Wilkes-Barre died Friday at Adams Manor, Scranton.
Born Feb. 24, 1949, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Fred R. and Sarah Joyce Gerrity.
He was a graduate of GAR Memorial High School, Class of 1968, and continued his education at Penn State University.
Joe was an insurance executive for many years in Florida, where he resided before returning to Wilkes-Barre nine years ago.
He was a participant in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters mentoring program in Florida.
Surviving are: daughter Shannon and her husband, Joseph Gorham, of Ashley; grandchildren Jake Finn, Genevieve and Jarrett Gorham; brother and sisters Ann Marie and her husband, John Martin, of New Jersey, Fred R. Jr. and his wife, Connie, of Towanda, Gerald J. of Hunlock Creek, Helen Magyar of Wilkes-Barre, Joyce and her husband, Pete Sladin, of Wilkes-Barre, Martin and his wife, Ann, of Plains, Genevieve Comitz of Wilkes-Barre, and Sally and her husband, Mitchell Maxwell, of Wilkes-Barre.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from M.J. McLaughlin Company, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral mass at 2 in Saint Aloysius Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday between 12 to 1:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 749 Northern Blvd., Clarks Summit, 18441.
