Sorry to hear of Buddy' passing. Met @ Galloway Dorm in 1975 and surfed several times with Buddy. He loved his 'fish'--- if I remember correctly a red Gordon&Smith model he loved. Good dude he was~ The picture is similar to what I remember Buddy rode that year.

To all the Dortons - my heartfelt condolences. It is still hard for me to believe that I am actually reading an obituary for Buddy - I wish I had been able to tell him goodbye. It seems like yesterday that he and Doug made that long trek from Lake Forest to Carrboro all those years ago. I will remember his little Pinto and him riding around with the lawnmower in the back so he could mow lawns for Mel Rashkis. I will also remember the letters that he sent me in 9th/10th grade from Litchfield that one summer and will think of him everytime I hear "our song - See you in September!" He made me laugh and I will miss that. He had a very special place in my heart and always will. Love, Joni

Remembering summers at Litchfield Beach during the early 70's. Buddy was the best looking surfer boy on the beach. He was the first one up in the morning to set up his family's yellow umbrella and to check out the waves. Remembering nights of touch football, fireworks, ping pong matches and sitting by the pool. He was a great big brother as he always let his little brother hang out too. He loved all types of music from Rock and Roll to Judy Garland's Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Buddy was a once a friend always a friend kind of guy with a great sense of humor and a huge heart. I will miss you Buddy Dorton! Prayers to Buddy's family and friends.
