Joseph Dale Antley, Jr
Folly Beach - Joseph Dale Antley, Jr., 56, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, surrounded by love, with his wife and daughter by his side. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, he grew up on James Island, where he built lifelong friendships and made lasting memories. He lived on Folly Beach for the last 16 years and was a beloved member and staple of his beach community.
Dale lived life to the fullest, bringing energy, warmth, and an easygoing spirit to everyone around him. The beach was his happy place, and you could find him almost daily on Folly Beach at what many knew as "Camp Dale," set up in front of Blu-where the vibes were right, cornhole bags and Redneck Horseshoes were flying, and music was always playing.
Heather was his steady rock and his soulmate. Together, they built a life full of adventure, laughter, and a deep, unwavering love that carried them through the good times and the really tough ones.
Being a dad and a Papa were Dale's greatest joys in life, and he was proud of his daughter, Chandler, beyond measure. His love for his family was constant, deep, and at the center of everything he did.
He had a true passion for travel-whether exploring destinations around the world, relaxing on cruises, or visiting what he considered his second home, Walt Disney World. After his honeymoon with Heather to Hawaii, Dale embraced the Aloha spirit, and it remained a place where cherished memories were made year after year. He loved sharing these adventures with family and friends, always inviting someone along for the ride, and created lasting memories that reflected how he lived-the shaka life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Suzanne Marie Lawrence and Joseph Dale Antley, along with beloved family members who went before him.
He is survived by his wife, Lora Heather Antley; his daughter, Chandler Antley Hood (Alexander Shea Hood); his grandchildren, Bryson Antley, Londyn Hood, and Xander Hood; his sister, Rachael Antley; his brother, J.B. Antley (Grace Antley); and a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends-many of whom will never forget his famous deviled eggs that were always a staple at family gatherings.
A service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026. A celebration of life will follow on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Sunset Cay Marina on Folly Beach.
Dale's legacy will live on in every sunset, every shared laugh, and every memory made with those he loved-in the joy, the music, and the beach days he cherished and shared so freely. In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends and loved ones to honor Dale by spending a day at the beach, with toes in the sand, enjoying good music, picking up litter, or making a donation to brain cancer research in his memory.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A hui hou.

My condolences to all of Dale's family on your loss. I remember Dale fondly from working together years ago at Charleston Place Hotel. A good guy gone far too soon.
