Joseph Bernard Clarke SUMMERVILLE - Joseph Bernard Clarke, 78, of Summerville, husband of Gloria Jean (Cochran) Clarke, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Summerville Medical Center. Friends and family may call at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 11001 Dorchester Road, Summerville on Monday December 28, 2015 from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock PM. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11 o'clock AM. Entombment will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Joe was born on June 26, 1937 in Washington, DC son of the late Bernard L. Clarke and Mary Elizabeth (Jones) Clarke. He was a retired veteran of the United States Navy where he served for 23 years. He enjoyed working in the church and loved traveling. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Assembly and a member of The Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was also a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Surviving in addition to his wife Gloria are: one son: Kenneth James Clarke (Jennifer ) of Lafayette, IN; one daughter: Kimberly Denise Clarke of Charleston; two grandchildren: Evan Gregory Clarke and Emily Elizabeth Clarke; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Theresa Kreitzer. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church, "Building Fund", 11001 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485.
