SPRINGFIELD - Jonathan Lee Tex, 30, of Springfield died Thursday in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.
He was born October 27, 1979, in Decatur, the son of Dr. Nick L. and Ann E. Wagner Tex. Jonathan was a graduate of Sacred Heart Griffin High School, Springfield, and then earned his associate degree at Wyoming Technical School in Laramie, WY. He had lived in Pana, Litchfield, Wyoming, Arizona and Springfield, and worked as an auto body mechanic in various shops, including Phoenix Collision Center in Springfield.
Jonathan loved drag racing, four-wheeling, repairing cars, and taking care of his family and his dog, Grainger. He was also a member of SEMA, an automotive specialty products association.
Surviving are his fiancee, Julia Ostermeier, Springfield; children, Charlotte Eloise Tex and Joseph Lee Tex, both at home in Springfield; parents, Dr. Nick and Ann Tex, Scottsdale, AZ; brothers, Tony Tex, Scottsdale, AZ, Christopher Tex, Tolleson, AZ and David Tex, Scottsdale, AZ; grandparents, Joe and Lucille Tex, Pana and Lorene Wagner, Scottsdale, AZ.
He was preceded by his grandfather, Earl Wagner.
Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, IL 62702-1766.
No visitation.
Memorial mass will be held Monday, April 19, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana at 10 a.m. with Rev. John Sohm officiating.

We are sorry to hear of your loss. Lorene and Earl were so proud of their grandchildren and we watched/heard them grow up thru them over the years. Jonathan would go fishing with Earl at our pond @ Sullivan and go for boat rides on Lake Shelbyville. Your in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Jon was a great friend. Jon was one you could go to for help. Jon was my little buddy but he had a big heart.
