I just found out about Jonathan's passing. I met Jonathan in Charleston, SC in the early 80's. He came to dance at Derriere's. We immediately became friends. I came to Atlanta to visit him & other friends on & off for a while. We always went dancing at the Limelight. He introduced me to "Mother Frudruckers"! He always got a big laugh out of me getting a big laugh over that name! We lost touch over the years, but I always thought about him everytime I went to or passed through Atlanta. I always said to myself, "I'll look him up next trip". I would give anything now to have been able to see him or talk to him one more time. I passed through Atlanta a few hours ago and when I got home I immediately began looking for Jonathan and I find this. What a sad day, what a tragic and great loss. I am kicking myself now for not taking the time to say "hello". I didn't know you long Jonathan, but you left a bright spot in my heart after all of these years. My sincere condolence's to his family and friends. RIP Jonathan. I can still see you dancing on top of that Limelight speaker!

I am so sad to hear of Jonathan's passing. I have such cute and fond memories of "Amy's little brother", Jonathan. I was best friends with Amy when we were young kids and I especially remember when we found "Me- Me Meatball " the puppy and I have so many fun memories of Jonathan as a young kid. The most adorable little boy EVER!!!
Amy - please look me up on Facebook. I would love to be in touch.
My deepest sympathy to the entire family!

Miss you my friend. You were there for me during difficult times with always a smile, a joke, a hug...and even a meal. Moe's just isn't the same now. Thank you for introducing me to D's dad. If not for that introduction I never would have met his daughter. She is my Anam Cara, my sister, more than a best friend could ever be. I will never forget you. You truely were a prince among men, and I am proud to have known you and called you friend.

I went with a friend and her mom to go buy a new car, John made everything so easy and simple. He said he wasnt in the best mood that day but he still glowed with kindness and understanding. After my friends mom got her new car i was suppose to follow them back to there house. We got separated. So i called John, and asked for help. He told me to come back to the dealer ship and he'd help me out. I live in PA and i was 13 hours from home and 2.30 hours away from where i was staying. He gave me directions off of mapquest and also gave me money for my toll. John was a very good man and i looked foreword to seeing him when i came down to GA again. We both loved 80's music. John, i may have been with you for a couple hours but, you made a impression for a life time.

Ill miss you buddy.

Dear Family Members of Jonathan -

We read with great sadness a letter today sent by Randy Coile, Manager at United BMW, informing us of Jonathan's passing. It was just the other week that we stopped to see him, and found that he was to undergo surgery. We knew Jonathan well enough to appreciate him as a really good "mensch", a sale person one could sincerely trust in a competitive business environment. We realized we had made a new friend, and will remember him as such.

Our deepest sympathies to you all.

Sincerely,

Hank Aldort

The irony of "One More Night" leaves a powerful impact behind the shock of losing someone who's life shined so bright.
Though it had been many many years since I'd seen Jonathon, Facebook reconnected childhood memories, enabling us to tune in on occasion and share the joys being experienced. He was so passionate about the Limelight party - and it was exciting to read about. Seeing the photos posted - he indeed seized what life has to offer. We should all take this lesson and learn from him.
My deepest sincerest sympathies to the Spanier family.

My thoughts and prayers are with family and true friends during this difficult time. I know he will truly be missed!

I met & worked with Jonathan at the Limelight 30th Anniversary Party. Just by spending a two days as his house production manager I could tell he was one heck of a man & passionate about life. He put his heart & soul into making the reunion a success & even though he should have been resting he danced with his friends "one more night". He had some life advice & kind words for me at the end of the production & though I barely knew him I will never forget him & miss him dearly. My prayers are with his family; please know that he is dancing, surrounded by a beautiful light show in Heaven now & forever.
