I do miss those conversations and commoroderie shared over the years. May peace and blessings be with you all.

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of John. He was truly a remarkable Man. I will remember all the time we shared together. I am sorry I lost touch with him. I knew Mr. Orr when I worked at Charleston Place Hotel. He was such a genuinely nice man, who shared advice and knowledge about life. It was always a pleasure talking to him about anything. He definitely lived by the golden rule of treating everyone how you would want to be treated. Heaven has definitely gained an angel. Peace and condolences to the entire Orr family.

I feel for the loss of Johnny Orr. He was the consumate manager of all his events when we worked together at Charleston Place. I'll never look at Sour Cream Pound Cake and Zucchini Muffins the same again as he was always wanting those two bakery goods. He was my confidant at the hotel and beyond for when I left the hotel started my own business. Always a good word to give of encouragement, filled with knowledge and a world of experience. A supporter of whatever I was doing and always caring about my family, God called home a good and faithful sservant. Blessing to the families.

Mr Orr or "Dapper Dan" as I would call Him, was a former Co-worker and a good friend. He was one of the Charleston Place Family. We all the Old-Timers were very close. We did a lot of things together. He had swag and a serious strut, hence the name "Dapper Dan". He was a Family Man and Love all of you dearly. Mrs. Orr He always spoke so fondly of You. Sometime you think some people would be here forever, but We're all here just for a season. Family I pray the Lord's strength on You all as You go through this berevement period. To the Orr family, My son Ralph has been apart of your family, in and out of your house since he was 12 yrs. old. Mr. Orr became his role model. He learned from him how to love and provide for your family. How to be a good father, husband and man; He looked up to John Orr Sr. As his mother, raising him as a single parent, I will always be grateful for the time and learning John Orr Sr. gave to him. My Son is grieving your lost and so am I. You have my deepest condolences.

I wanted to say what a privelege it was to have known Johnny. He was truly one of the pioneers of the hospitality industry here in Charleston. Such a gentleman! He knew what the word hospitality meant in our industry. My sincere condolences to his wife Yvonne and family. One of the good ones!!

Jonny was one of the first people in the hospitality business in 1976 and he was one of the finest gentlemen I ever had the privilege of having on my staff and working with at the Colony House. Johnny was like a second father to me when he watched over many downtown young boys from his position then as maitre d' of the Carolina Yacht Club. I worked with John a couple of times when I was living/working in Charleston in 1986. Then in 1989-90, he organized my wedding at The Omni. He was truly a gentleman and a kind soul. I always think of him when I think of Charleston Place. May his memory be eternal!
