Johnny Johnson Obituary

Johnny Johnson MT. PLEASANT - Johnny O. Johnson, born June 4, 1941, 80, of Hemingway, SC, and Mount Pleasant, SC, joined the church triumphant on June 9, 2021. Johnny was the son of Fred T. and Mamie Allen Johnson. A graveside celbration of life will be held June 17, 2021, at 11 am at Pine Bluff Cemetery, Old Pee Dee Road, Hemingway, SC 29554. Johnny will be remembered as a fun loving kind man. He was not able to read or write but could always find a job. He retired from Wellman Industries, Johnsonville, SC. After his retirement, he worked at Red's Ice House as a dishwasher. He attended Pleasant Hill Schools and was a member of Center Baptist Church, Hemingway, SC. He enjoyed his final days, dancing with the lovely ladies at Sandpiper Independent Living facilties. His friends and family loved him dearly. His last words to the family were that he was so happy to be celebrating his 80th birthday with his brother and sister. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Bobby) S. Johnson of Hemingway, SC; his sister, Joanne Tyler Harwell of Mount Pleasant, SC; nephews Ausby (Ty) S. Tyler of Mount Pleasant, Andrew F. Tyler (Gretchen) of Mount Pleasant and Lee Johnson of Columbia, SC; nieces, Renee Tyler Greene (Rick) of Hanahan, SC, and Amy (Garrett) Hughes of Hemingway, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Central Baptist Church, 2602 Old Schoolhouse Dr., Hemingway, SC 29554 or to The Hope House, Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 302 Hibben Street, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
