John Ransom Whatley SUMMERVILLE - John Ransom Whatley, 70, of Summerville, SC, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 14, 2014. His funeral service will be held at the gravesite Friday, January 17, 2014 in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Thursday in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. John was born December 23, 1943 in Greenwood, SC, son of the late John Sidney Whatley and Thelma Reames Whatley. He was a retired mechanic for the Sherwin Williams Paint Co. and a member of the Ashley River Baptist Church. He is survived by his sister, Louise W. Tabor of Charleston, SC; two nieces, Cindy T. Parker (Michael) of Summerville, SC, and Susan T. Ilderton (Scott) of James Island, SC; a great-nephew, Sgt. William Travis Ilderton USMC (Ceci); and two great-nieces, Brittany L. Ilderton, and Kaitlin M. Parker. Memorials may be made to Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC 29407 or to Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
