Very sorry to hear of this. Johnny and I were classmates and good friends together in high school at St Johns. He was always quick with a joke. My condolences to his family.

Heidi,Ellen,Susan, and family, I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. We had bumped into each other at Burbage's on Broad St. last year I think. We shared about the Rockville gang and places like the Pop Top and the crazy nicknames we had! He shared his health worries and we had a lovely impromptu visit. Know I have you all in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

Dear Ellen, Susan, your children and especially Heidi, Seabrook and Mary Legare;
With the passing of Johnny, another key figure of the Rockville gang has been lost. In the more than sixty years that I knew him, Johnny was always up to something. His mind was constantly working and he was always good for a laugh. Like his father John, he was a character and just a little bit larger than life. We had many fun times, in the river, at Privateer, mud fights, camping trips (some disastrous but made for great stories) and frat parties. Seems like so very long ago, but the memories are still fresh and clear. Johnny is gone but his legacy will live on - as the designer and purveyor of the very first Rockville Regatta T-shirt, he will be remembered as we buy our new shirts at Races every year. Rest in peace old friend, you are already missed. Love to All,
Bill

Ellen, Susan and all The Whaley family, I was saddened to hear of John's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
I have to say that I'll always remember Johnny's sense of humor and especially his generous spirit. We shared a lot of laughs (and a few misadventures) back then which I shall forever cherish. I know that all of us are better for having known him. Rest in peace, brother!
