John VanDeusen Obituary

John Van Deusen Mount Pleasant - John Ten Eyck Van Deusen, Jr., of Mount Pleasant, SC, passed away on February 4, 2022, after battling ALS for 10 years. John is survived by his wife, Lauri Wiggins Van Deusen; daughters, Ashton (Logan) Van Deusen Todd of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Caroline Margaret Van Deusen of Mount Pleasant, SC; a brother, Rusty (Susan) Van Deusen; and three sisters, Sandy Van Deusen Culpepper, Linda (Colin) Van Deusen Goggin and Kimberly (John) Van Deusen Talmage. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Steve Culpepper. John was born on October 10, 1954, in Chevy Chase, Maryland, son of the late John Ten Eyck Van Deusen, Sr. and Margaret Schaff Van Deusen. John grew up in Sandy Springs, Georgia and worked in real estate in the Atlanta area, where he met his wife of 25 years, Lauri. They moved to Mount Pleasant, where he started his business and welcomed their two daughters. He loved boating, gardening, and his family. John enjoyed attending First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant, where he was a member. He never met a stranger and loved to make people smile and laugh. John was so loved by both family and friends and will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The sadness of our loss is replaced by the joy of knowing he is fully remade and with his Creator in Heaven. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

Dear Ashton and family, so very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. We can rejoice even so, in knowing he is in his Saviors arms.

Dear Lauri, Ashton and Caroline, John was a wonderful man who dearly loved his family and friends and, most importantly, His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I will miss him but I know he has been fully restored and we will one day be reunited in heaven. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
