John Sullivan Obituary

John Marcus Sullivan, Jr. Mt. Pleasant - John Marcus Sullivan, Jr., 48, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Katherin Kelley Sullivan died Wednesday, November 14, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Marc was born October 26, 1970 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of John Marcus Sullivan, Sr. and the late Alice Walters Sullivan. He was self-employed as a specialty contractor. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his sons, John Ross Sullivan and Thomas Kelley Sullivan; his father, John Marcus Sullivan, Sr.; his sisters, Stacy Robertson (Jeff) and Anna Sullivan; his brother, Paul Sullivan; his mother-in-law, Jane Kelley; nieces and nephews, Lauren Ross, Caitlin Tintle, Matthew Kelley, Rachel Kelley, Rebecca Taylor, Hank Robertson, Shannon Mitchell, Stephen Mitchell, and Andrew Mitchell; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lula and Fletcher Walters, his grandfather, Andrew W. Sullivan, and his father-in-law, Laurence Kelley. Marc will be lovingly remembered by many. His customers were always on his mind and he always wanted to know that any job he did was done well. He was protective of their homes and even loved all their pets. To his friends he was loyal and as often as he could he would be there to help. His oldest and dearest friend, Todd Blair shared the good times and the bad, and for all of the care he gave Marc, his family is eternally grateful. Marc always felt he had things he could learn to better his craft and he learned from the best - Tony Reilly, Andrew Wall and most importantly - his father, John who instilled a strong work ethic. Marc was a very proud uncle to his sister Stacy's son, Hank. He looked forward to watching little Hank play football on Saturday mornings. Marc was a loyal and steadfast brother to Stacy, Paul and Anna. The oldest of John's children, Marc was a quiet, kind and gentle soul. He loved motorcycles, Rush, and playing drums. In the early years of his sons' lives Marc cherished every moment of their baby and toddlerhood. He enjoyed feeding them their breakfast, helping them dress and checking their diaper bags to ensure they had good coverage. There were times he was considerably late getting on a job site because he wanted to spend more time with John Ross and Thomas in the mornings. He was there for every basketball game, scouting event, football game, award ceremony and was so proud to cheer them on when they graduated from high school. He said the two best things in his life were his sons whom he loved so much. Some of his favorite times were assisting John Ross with projects for his car and watching television. He and Thomas spent hours cheering for the Carolina Panthers and tossing the football. For twenty-five years he and Kathy navigated the waters of marriage and life together; their greatest joys were raising their sons. He was a loving son, brother, friend, father and husband and will never be forgotten. The family wishes to thank all those who have shared their stories, remembrances and love for Marc as these words have given us all comfort and peace. Hello, we were shocked to see Marc's obituary in the paper today - he did alot of great work for us on our home in the Brickyard over the years. We hadn't seen him in a few years since we moved to a newer home and were unaware if he had health problems. We are so saddened by his passing and send thoughts & prayers to you in this very sad time. Karen and Alan Janoff

I am so sorry to read about Marc. I have not seen him since high school, but I recall vividly his quiet, sweet spirit throughout our school years. He obviously continued to bless others with his kindness and skills in the intervening years, and he will not be forgotten. Your family is in my prayers during this difficult time.

Dearest Kathy, John Ross and Thomas,
We are so very sorry for your loss. Marc was like extended family to us. He was always caring for all of us all the time. He often fixed my son's old Buick Regal laughing saying gosh ' boys will be boys' and never judged the crazy things he's seen with us. It was also inherited from his grandparents He laughed at things that would of made others upset- like the dogs destroying the yard, or scruffy after all these years acting like he's an intruder, the kids breaking stuff, and my killing the golf cart forgetting to add water. He was so incredibly patient and brilliant and would just take over when none of us would get anything done. All my children felt like he was family. He was always trying to make us happy and would find ways to help us, with creative ideas we'd never think of. He knew us all so well- and his kind gentle caring actions were so much appreciated. .He came into our lives many years ago and grew to be a big part of it. It is truly hard to imagine his loss . His love for his boys was something he always shared and all the wonderful stories about them. He was so proud of them. We are eternally grateful to have had such a caring loving soul in our lives. It is heartbreaking. We are so sorry. Our deepest condolences to you.
