John Sanders Obituary

When I went to my treatments at Hollings John's picture would be there to greet me. He was a fellow cyclist that I never had the privilege to ride with but
his fight and demeanor will always inspire me in my battle.

My heart goes out to the Sanders family. John was a remarkable person who was greatly admired by co-workers and friends alike. He had a wonderful spirit, a keen sense of humor, enviable intelligence, and a grace about him that is not often seen. He was a pleasure to know. It's very sad that he is gone from us entirely too soon.

I am saddened to hear the news of John's passing. A good man - as a person and as a healthcare professional - gone too soon. We worked together at MUSC during the early years of our career; I called it our "boot camp" experience. :-) Friendships built during challenging times are strong. Although we stayed in touch over the years, we were both busy with careers and family and living in different cities. I regret we won't be able to reconnect during retirement.

My condolences to Cindi, John's parents and the children - the 2 younger ones about the same age as mine. I bet John was so excited about the grand baby on the way. I know his spirit will be with you all forever.

I loved the pictures - thank you for including them - especially the billboard - priceless!

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network just learned of John's passing today and we are so very sorry for your loss. John spoke at a research event we held at Hollings in 2013 and our entire team was just in awe of him. His spirit will live on forever. Peace and prayers to your family.

I knew John Michael Sanders from grade school. He was always the kindest and nicest young man in school and out of school. He was popular and that never went to his head. I will always remember John for being such a nice classmate. We voted him our Class President because of the person that he was. I am sure that his family will miss him but please know that he was so proud of his family and he loved you all. My sincere condolences to Dr. and Mrs. Sanders for your loss. To the widow, thank you so much for being there for John and taking care of him, he sincerely loved you!!! To the sister, I feel your pain, I recently lost my sister and it is tough going with even the good memories!! To the children, please know that John was crazy about you all and he loved you and was so proud of you.

The Sanders family will ALWAYS be in my heart. Dr. Sanders gave me life and he was my family doctor until his retirement. He and Mrs. Gloria were always held in high esteem in our hometown community of Brevard, NC.

May God comfort you all at this very difficult time. John is at rest and peace now, with no more suffering or pain. We all loved John, but God loved him best!!! John is gone too soon but he will NEVER be forgotten. May God continue to bless and keep each and every one of you. Take care.

I went to Maryville College with John. What I remember most about John is that he was ALWAYS kind. It was a privilege to know John. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Although we did not have the pleasure of meeting you personally, John, we learned to admire and respect you through the witness of your dear parents whom we love so much! Your courage and perseverance were a testimony to Jim and Gloria's zest for a life well lived!

John Sanders was one of the most gracious, kind patients I have ever met. I am honored to have been part of his care team. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. He will be truly missed.

John was a great, great man. It was a great pleasure to work with him at MUSC. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Dear Jim and Gloria, Our hearts are with yours as you go through these days of remembering and celebrating John's life, as well as missing him already. May you experience God's grace today, tomorrow, and always.

I worked with John years ago at MUSC Hosp Admin. He was a great young man, loved his family dearly and committed to doing an excellent job for the hospital. He is gone much too soon.

One of the things that stayed with me while I worked at MUSC was John's attitude dealing with his illness. He was always cheerful and didn't let it appear that he was suffering in any way. A good man left us too soon, we will miss him.

I was fortunate to work with John twice during my career. During his first tenure at MUSC and again when he returned. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was devoted to improving care for I our babies and children! He will be missed!

I had the absolute pleasure of working for John at MUSC as a new RN manager of a pediatric unit. While it was only a brief period of a couple of years, John always had a glow about him. He was caring, understanding, compassionate, and empathetic. Thankful for that time and what it did and what I learned for my nursing career from him. Thank you John. A bright light extinguished much too soon. He truly lived life to the fullest and will not be forgotten. We share your grief .

Sympathy to the family. We knew John through our daughter Meredith Strehle. John was the kindest, most thoughtful, professional mentor to Meredith. We are so blessed to have known John. May God continue to show his grace to all of you in the days ahead as you deal with the loss of John.

May you all find peace in knowing that John is completely healed and resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus. I know you will miss him terribly. I will keep you all in my prayers.
