John Platt Obituary

To Todd & Bryan, I was deeply saddened on hearing of the passing of your father. Such a loving and caring man who had time to listen to others and help them feel better just by being around him. May God bless both of you during this time of grief.

Todd & Bryan...you were and are still blessed to have had such loving and beautiful people as Barbara and John as your parents! I know they felt blessed and proud to have you as their sons. The last few years have to have been so challenging in ways no one else could really understand. May the loss you must inevitably feel be soothed by God's grace and thoughts of their return to God's loving arms. I am certain you both now have at least two loving angels keeping watch over you! Sending my love and sympathy...

I just now heard of Rev. Platts passing and my heart is saddened but know heaven is rejoicing. I have never met a man more special than he was. His love of the Lord and fellowman was so evident in all he did. I was priviledged to have him as interium preacher for over a year and saw first hand a true man of God. He will be greatly missed here on earth because he was truely one of a kind.

A true man of God, a Gentleman! He helped my Church so much and supported the Columbia Metro WMU whole heartedly. A pleasure to know him and to know we will meet again in the Morning!

Todd and Bryan: Your dad was such a special man. I am so glad I got to know him, even though for a short time. How wonderful it is to know that we will see him again when we all worship our Savior together in heaven!

This is to honor Rev. John Platt for his dedicated service and in memory of my parents, Olin and Kathleen Marsh for their dedicated support for John during his young pastorate at Kingsburg Baptist Church. They held John and Barbara in highest regard always.

We will miss seeing him around the imaging department. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during your time of loss.

Everywhere John went and ministry he did made the world a better place than when he found it. My last golf outing with John at the annual meeting was a joy, but he indicated that he was getting tired. In our loss we know that he has found the true joy and rest. We all will miss him. Todd and Bryan, you continue to be in our prayers.

John provided much needed leadership to the Columbia Metro Baptist Association. I appreciate his love and care to me and my family these past two years. Even though his health was failing him he painfully visited me in the hospital and rehab center. John lived his faith and shared it freely. John was a man who walked with God. Thank you his sons fo being faithful to your dad.

May God continue to bless and keep you all at this time. Your father will be missed, I met him through the Metro Association, and always enjoyed talking to him. Peace and Blessings,

Bryan and Todd: Ann and I will never forget your dad as well as your mother. They meant so much to us as we served with them in Lancaster. LOve, Ann and John McManus

John is now in Heaven still sharing his love and resting in the arms of Jesus.
He will be truly missed.

John Platt was a fine man and minister to many. I met him years ago in Bladen County, then again in recent years in Spartanburg through our dear friend Joe Dempsey. I spoke to him last at Phyllis Dempsey's funeral service at which he delivered a wonderful eulogy. God be with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Dr Platt was a great friend and support for other pastors. He was the DOM for Metro when I accepted the call to ministry and a great help in initiating my ordination. He will be missed. Pastor Barry Epps

He is in God's hands now. He lived a remarkable lfe and so many are better for him having been a part of their lives.

John was a wonderful man that truly put us closer to God. We pray for strength for your family at this time.

During his time in Lancaster, John did a wonderful job as Director Of Missions for the Moriah Baptist Association. He was an invaluable resource for the churches in our area. My deepest condolences to his family, but I am certain they are all aware that John was a saint and he is now enjoying all the advantages that go with sainthood.
