John Peurifoy Obituary

PEURIFOY, John WALTERBORO - Mr. John Huiet Puerifoy, died Wednesday morning at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was 85. Mr. Peurifoy was born in Walterboro July 15, 1921 a son of the late John Huiet Puerifoy and Essie Hyrne Puerifoy. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII where he served in the China-Burma-India Theater of operations. He was a self-employed Building Contractor and Electrician and was the retired owner and operator of Johnny's Auto Service in Walterboro. Mr. Peurifoy was a lifelong member of St. Jude's Episcopal Church, where he formerly served on the church Vestry. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was known for his strong work ethic. Surviving, in addition to his wife are one son, James A. "Jim" Peurifoy, and wife Kim, of Walterboro, and two daughters, Nancy Parker, and husband Dennis, of Cayce, and Donna Cutsforth, and husband Marshall, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. There is one sister, Elsie Speights, of Raleigh, NC, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Peurifoy was preceded in death by a son, John H. "Johnny" Peurifoy, a granddaughter, Inglis Paige Peurifoy, and two brothers, James E. and John E. Peurifoy. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in the St. Jude's Episcopal Church, with committal services following in the Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either the National Alzheimer's Association, or the St. Jude's Episcopal Church.
