John David Northern CHARLESTON - John David Northern was born March 4, 1931, loving husband of Louise Kittrell W. Northern of 1659 Wading Heron Rd., Charleston, SC. John was the son of Helen Northern Greenzweight and Davis Northern. John was born in Knoxville, TN and raised in Los Angeles CA. John leaves his loving family and friends and his best babies Bruno, Magnolia and Rufus. John has three daughters, two sons, and eight grandchildren. He was retired from the Kentucky Central Insurance Company after thirty-five years. On moving to Charleston he was employed by the City of Charleston at the gate on Market Street. John leaves his loving family Mrs. Susan Welcker Sale and husband John, daughters Christina Leah Sale and Samantha Carleen Sale of Mount Pleasant, SC.; Mrs. Deborah E. Welcker and daughter Kimberly Hannah of Knoxville, TN; Mrs. Leslie Welcker McLaughlin and husband Matthew John (Matty), daughter, Emily Marie Brooks, son, Matthew Joseph and daughter Rachel Susan McLaughlin of Patuxent River, MD; Mr. Michael Wayne Northern and wife Kay of Knoxville, TN; Mr.William Harmon (Billy) Northern and sons Wesley and Blake Northern of Pigeon Forge, TN. John was a member of Sons of Confederate Veteran Life Member Camp #2, The Son of Confederate Veterans Secession Camp #4, Korean Vet, VFW Knoxville, TN, The Mended Hearts Inc of Charleston, SC, Chapter #266, The Order of Eastern Stars #284 James Island, Epworth United Methodist Church on Camp Rd, James Island, Zelmar Grotto of North America, Knoxville, TN, Berlington Masonic Lodge Knoxville, TN, Kerbela Temple Shrine of Knoxville, TN. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 7:00PM - 9:00PM with services of The Order of The Eastern Star at 7:30PM on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at MCALISTER- SMITH FUNERAL HOME, WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 2501 Bees Ferry Rd, Charleston, SC 29414. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Mended Hearts, Inc. Chapter #266, PO Box 32304, Charleston, SC 29417 for the purchase of an A.E.D.
