Shortly after I moved to Kansas City, I worked on a number of matters against John. He was always civil and kind while advocating strongly and effectively for his clients. He was a great example for all lawyers to emulate.

I knew John and Mary in high school. They were great friends of mine and my family. John was a natural leader. He was well respected as a lawyer while also engaged in the management of a large law firm. We will miss him.

I am saddened to learn of John's death. I remember well a perfect backflip dive he did at an age when most men would be too afraid to try. He was kind to me and many, many other young lawyers. I admired him a great deal.

When I joined the firm in 1982, John was the head of the Trial Department. There were a number of strong egos in that department, but John was able to keep our meetings peaceful as I recall. John was humble and gentle even though he held the best credentials as a trial lawyer. I will miss him.

John was one of the good guys. A gentleman at heart. He was the first of my encounters at Stinson and I was so impressed with him and grew to admire him. I think I even compared others to him. He will be missed.

Celebrating a life well lived. We knew both John and Mary and are very fortunate to have met them. Your grief is felt here in Hastings as well. May your tears be short lived as you remember John is united with all of our angels.
