John Noonan Obituary

John C. Noonan MT. PLEASANT - John C. Noonan, 86, died on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 in Mount Pleasant, SC. A funeral service will be held at Stella Maris Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC on Wednesday, July 26th at 11am. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul. John was born October 6, 1930 in Webster Groves, Missouri. After graduating from Webster Groves High School, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he was also the captain of the fencing team. John served his country as a Captain in the Marines during the Korean War. He went on to attend Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where he received his law degree. John married Mary Ellen Wilks in 1958 and settled in Kansas City, Missouri. John practiced law at the law firm of Morrison Hecker LLP (formerly known as Stinson Mag & Fizzell) in Kansas City, Missouri for approximately 50 years. For several years, he was the head of the trial department. In 2006, John was awarded "The Dean of the Trial Bar Award". John and Mary were long time members of the Carriage Club and Visitation Catholic Church. John enjoyed tennis, golf, sailing and was an avid reader. John retired to Charleston, SC in July, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents Ann and John (Jack) Noonan, his brother Michael Noonan and Mary, his wife of 52 years. He is survived by his daughter Ann Ellen and his son-in-law Steven Thompson; four grandchildren Stephen Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Abigail Thompson Doud and Madeline Thompson; his sister Mary Patricia Paschen; his brother Dennis J.
