John Lancaster Obituary

John Tilton Lancaster Mt. Pleasant - John Tilton Lancaster, 71, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, beloved husband of Stacia Louise Brown Lancaster, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 9, 2018. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 19, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. John was born March 1, 1947, in Lumber City, Georgia, son of the late Edward Eli Lancaster and Elizabeth Carrie Beidelman Lancaster. He devoted 36 years to the Medical University of South Carolina and retired from the IT department as a financial project manager. John was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant, where he sang in the choir. He was also a US Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Stacia Lancaster; two daughters and a son: Carrie Elizabeth Lancaster of Mount Pleasant, SC, Lindsey Ann Fuller (Corbin Fuller) of James Island, SC, and Justin Lee Dworschak of Puyallup, WA; three brothers, Charles Marion Lancaster, Edward Eli Lancaster, Jr., and Dallas Barry Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews. John lived his life loving and serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a very devoted loving husband and father. He had a love for his wife, his soulmate, that was unyielding and never swayed from its path of pure, simple, true love. John loved spending his time cooking, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, playing guitar, spending time with family in the sunshine, dancing in the kitchen with his wife, and helping others. Memorials may be made to the Imani Milele Children, 10205 US Hwy 1, Sebastian, FL 32958; or the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. Stacia, I was shocked and terribly saddened to hear of John's death. It was such a pleasure when I came in contact with him at MUSC. I remember him as always having a smile on his face and being warm and friendly. My sincere condolences to you and all of your family.

I took this in May 2018, teasing him about being the "Bionic Man". Gone far too soon.

Stacia,

May God shine his light and grace on you and your family, and give you the strength and resolve to mourn his transition yet still celebrate living as only John clearly did with you. I will miss the my fellow story-teller...he was one for the ages.

John always had a story, and usually a good one if not a long one. It was always fun to reminisce about the old CCIT days. I hope the company of friends and family bring you comfort in this difficult time, and let your MUSC family know if we can be of assistance to you.

Stacia, I pray that God puts His arms around you and the family and gives you the comfort you need during this time. It is still very recent for me. The pain is real. Allow yourself time to grieve but allow yourself to smile at the memories of John. He was a great man and a wonderful loving husband and father. You will see him again one day. Your life will be a roller coaster for some time, but if you need someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on, know that I am here for you. My deepest condolences ... Lori
