John was so special to all of us at Lowcountry Orphan Relief. He would get a crew of the SC Strong guys and immediately come over to fix whatever needed fixing! I will miss him, his twinkly eyes and his beautiful smile. Rest in peace, my friendl

I was so sad to hear the passing of John. It made me smile reading the comments because they all made memories flash back of the brief time (5-7 years) I was fortunate enough to have spent part of my life with him. He never met a stranger and had such a kind soul. Jeff Mills Bahama NC

I am deeply grieved and saddened by the loss of my best friend. I met Johnny when I was in the 4th grade and he has been my best friend ever since. Not only was he my best friend, I considered him my brother. As we grew up and became men, we stilled stayed in touch with each other when we could. It was as though time stood still for us because we could talk as though it was only yesterday. But we knew time had passed by being reminded of the age on our faces and the gray hairs. A true lion heart of a man that was a rare jewel on this earth. Rest in peace my brother.

John will be greatly missed. He was an amazing soul and a light to many. I am grateful our paths crossed and will always remember his warm smile and gentle ways. May peace be with the family at this time.

John had an infectious smile and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a truly genuine person and good friend to so many. He will be missed greatly.

John was one of those rare individuals who sincerely cared more for others than himself. He was one bright guy as well , I always enjoyed speaking with John on many subjects. He helped me in very difficult times and I will never forget him as long as I live.

John was a fine human being; he was genuinely concerned about everybody, from every walk of life. He and his crew built me a fine wheel chair ramp several years ago. I shall think of him each time I use it!

I am very sadden to hear about John he was an amazing man. I met John when he and I were in the Delancey Street North Carolina he became not only a good friend but was like a brother to me. He will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences go out to his wife and family. I will always remember his great smile and love for life!

The startup of SC Strong and the renovation of Quarters C are a testament to his passion, dedication and years of hard work helping others and making our community a better place.
