John Hale Obituary

John Hale CHARLESTON - John H. Hale, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina died in his home on March 29, 2013. Born April 1, 1925 in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John A. Smith Hale and Alzada Reid Hale. Mr. Hale was a retired General Foreman from the Polaris Missile Facility Atlantic. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the Navy, a WWII Veteran, and a Korean Veteran, having 44 years of combined service to his country. He was an active member of St. Andrews Parish United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed and remembered. He was the beloved father of one son, James Alan Hale and one daughter, Joan Hale Gallagher and her husband Thomas, both of Charleston, South Carolina. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Daniel B. Hale, Leighanne Gallagher Knight, Christine Gallagher Lovingood, and Lindsay M. Gallagher; eight great grandchildren: Layla, Lucas, and Levi Hale, Austin and Ava Knight, and Bryson, Braden, and Brody Lovingood. He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Floyd Hale, one grandson, John A. Hale and two sisters, Hissie Graves and Ene Neal. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at St. Andrew's Parish United Methodist Church, 3225 Ashley River Road. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McAlister Funeral Home, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston.
