John Flaherty Obituary

John F. Flaherty Dracut, World War II Veteran; 79 Dracut John F. Flaherty, Jr., 79, a resident of Dracut, died Saturday, August 11th in Willow Manor Nursing Home in Lowell. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia P. (Gavlik) Flaherty who died in August of 2001. He was born on January 31, 1928 in Woburn, a son of the late John F. and the late Catherine (Connoly) Flaherty. Mr. Flaherty was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Airforce. He was employed by the Raytheon Company in Bedford where he worked as a maintence engineer for many years until his retirement. Previously, he was the owner and operator of the American Floor Service for many years. Mr. Flaherty was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, sketching and wood carving. He is survived by his son, Dennis J. Flaherty and his wife Joy-Anne of Nashua, NH; three brothers, Fr. Richard C. Flaherty O.F.M. of St. Anthony Shrine in Boston, Robert Flaherty of Woburn, and Thomas Flaherty of Woburn; two sisters, Barbara Evans of Kentucky and Catherine McManus of Woburn; his grandson, Christopher Jarred Gaudette of Dunstable and his parents, Ted and Sue Gaudette of Dunstable; fifteen nephews and nieces. He was also the brother of the late Donald Flaherty and the late Patricia Murray. FLAHERTY John F. Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. His funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Thursday at 9:00 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut. Burial will follow in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery in Tyngsboro. Please visit www.dracutfuneralhome.com for online condolences and directions.
