John Errthum Obituary

John W. Errthum LANCASTER, WI - John W. Errthum, 87, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, WI, doing what he loved, playing cards with his wife and children. Mr. Errthum was born October 14, 1923, in Bloomington, WI, the son of John Sr. and Bertha (Schmidt) Errthum. He married Rosie Meyer on April 20, 1949, in Bloomington, WI. Background info: John was a US Army veteran of WWII. John and Rosie lived in rural Lancaster and farmed until 1973 when they moved into town. He worked at Phillips Ag, and was the custodian at St. Clement Catholic Church and school. After retirement they moved to Bella Vista, AR for 10 years, where John enjoyed fishing in the warm climate. John and Rosie returned to Lancaster in 1996 to be closer to family. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Rosie Errthum of Lancaster, his pride and joy; his 10 children, Ronald (Linda) Errthum of Dickeyville, Dale (Joanne) Errthum of Dubuque, IA, Peggy (Karl) Koehler of St. Germain, Linda (Syl) Groeschl of Janesville, David (Sandra) Errthum of Charleston, SC, Jeffrey (Kathy) Errthum of Tulsa, OK, Pam (Rick) Nelson of Fennimore, Terry (Dawn) Errthum of Browntown, Sandy (John) Hauth of Lancaster, and Steven (Kelly) Errthum of Monticello; 27 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, two brothers, two sisters, a grandson, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, WI, at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, April 1, 2011. Burial at St. Clement Catholic Church Cemetery in Lancaster with Military Honors by Lancaster VFW Post #2344. Friends may call: from 3 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Friday morning. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in loving memory of John W. Errthum. The LARSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME IN FENNIMORE, WI, is assisting the family.
