John Ebinger Obituary

Cdr John Edwin Ebinger HARRISON, ME - Cdr John Edwin Ebinger, age 90, of Harrison, Maine, died peacefully with family on June 30 after a short illness. John was born in 1932 in Canton, Ohio, and he graduated from Lehman High School and the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a metallurgical engineering degree and served in Navy ROTC. After graduation, John worked in naval cryptology, where he met his wife of 65 years, Betty Smith Ebinger. Together they moved to North Canton, Ohio, where they raised five children, and where John worked first as an engineer, and subsequently as a science teacher and high school swimming and diving assistant coach at Hoover High School. Retirement took them to Charleston, SC, and Harrison, ME, where they had adventures and joy with friends and family, including 7 grandchildren.
