John Dodd Obituary

John Hood Dodd ROUND O - Mr. John Hood Dodd, husband of Erie Patterson Dodd, died Saturday afternoon at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was 87. Mr. Dodd was born September 4, 1927, a son of the late J.K. "Keel" Dodd, Sr. and Martha Hood Dodd. He owned and operated, along with his late brother, the Round O Milling Company. He was farmer, and was happiest when he was outdoors raising crops and caring for his animals. Mr. Dodd was an avid hunter who enjoyed every type of pursuit that involved his hounds, from deer and coon hunting to fox hunting. He was a lifelong member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and taught Sunday School. In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by his children, Ann Elizabeth Dodd of West Palm Beach, FL and Christopher Patterson Dodd of North Charleston. He has two brothers, Boyd H. Dodd and Dr. William K. Dodd, both of Round O. He was preceded in death by three siblings: Joe K. Dodd, Margaret Hulsey, and Edith Dodd. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in the Fox Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church.
