Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. John was born May 4, 1934, in Neva, Tennessee, son of the late John E. Day and Louvenia Deloach Day. He was a graduate of Clemson University, 1956, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and through the ROTC program, was commissioned out of Clemson as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. These engineering policies that he instituted during this period received recognition from across the globe. John retired from the United States Army Reserve with the rank of Colonel, and was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf clusters. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of North Charleston, other service organizations, and Ashley River Baptist Church. He is survived by daughter, Juliet Elise Day of Daniel Island; brother, Kenneth Day (Maenita) of Hanahan; and sister, Carol Hartley of St. George. He was preceded in death by a son, John E. Day III.
