John Chilton Obituary

Brenda and family,
Tony and I have continued to keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Your loss is tremendous and sometimes, more than you think you can bear. He was such a fine and good man, we will all miss him. May God comfort you and guide you in the days, weeks and months to come.

It was an honor and a blessing to know and work with Mr. Chilton for 6 years while at JC Penney -Citadel Mall. He was a very caring and understanding person, & he enjoyed his job. Your family is in our prayers, and know that John will be missed.

As a young man growing up in Johnny's neighborhood in Carlisle, I have many fond memories of our time together. Whether it be riding around in the Jeep, shooting pool or just hanging out with Johnny and brother Jimmy, much laughter and great times was had by all. Johnny will always have a place in my heart. There is a special place for Johnny in Heaven. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I have not spoken to, nor have I been in contact with John since 1966, however, he has remained in my memory as one of the kindest and most likable individuals I have had the pleasure of meeting. Ours was effectively an adolescent friendship, but I feel confident that if the opportunity to reconnect had been presented, he would have maintained that same kindness and likability. My most heartfelt condolences and thoughts to "Johnny's" family and friends.

John was an amazing man to be married to such a loving woman. My prayers are for you and your family.

I was so saddened to hear of John's
passing this week. John replaced my position as Buyer & Merchandiser at Dunes West several years ago. I continued a career in wholesale and John purchased jewelry and ladies accesories from me for the Pro Shop. I considered John a friend and
always looked forward to seeing him. His sweet and gentle Christian spirit was always present and I admired his genuine love and concern for his family and others. I will miss John. My thoughts and prayers are with you during these difficult times.

My deepest sympathy to the family of John. I had the pleasure of working with him for several years at JCPenney. He was a very intelligent compassionate person and spoke often of his family.

My condolences for your loss, I too had the honor of working with Mr.Chilton at J.C Penney's, and yes he was a very kind and funny man, he was always out on the floor talking with the associates or helping a customer find an item and would even help ring on the registers when it got busy, his door was always open,he will be greatly missed...

I had the great pleasure of working with Mr. Chilton for a short time when he did not have a Salon Mgr. I found him to be a warm and friendly person very easy to work with and for. His joy and laughter touched so many people in his lifetime. It was so obvious that he was an "old soul", and knew how to live life to it's fullest. Let the memories of his mission in life guide you, and you will find peace.

I count myself as one of the lucky ones who had the chance to work with John while he worked for JCPenney in Charleston. He was always a delightfully funny man with a great sense of fairness.
