John Andrew Childs BOSTON, MA - John Andrew Childs (Andrew), of Boston, MA, was born on July 15, 1988 in Greenville, South Carolina and passed away on December 27, 2024 in Ladson, South Carolina. He was 36 years old. Andrew grew up with a passion for learning and pursued higher education at Clemson University and a Masters of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He later built a career in computer software design, where his creativity and technical expertise left a lasting impact. A resident of Boston, Massachusetts, Andrew was also a proud member of the Boston Gay Men's Chorus, where he found joy and camaraderie through music. He enjoyed running, working out and more recently playing volleyball. Andrew is lovingly remembered by his mother Adrienne Johnson Otto (GA); stepmother, Susan Childs (SC); his brother David Childs and sister-in-law Kaeley Childs (SC); his stepsister, Rachel Chigges and her husband, Nick Chigges (SC); his grandmothers, Dorothy Jaggars Childs (TN) and Opal Phillips Johnson (TN); as well as aunts, Ann Childs (TN), Tammy Hurst (TN), Cheryl Harvey (TN), and uncle, Eric Johnson (TN). He was a beloved uncle to Mason, Gabriel, Olivia, Silas, Elijah, Emma, and Lucy Kate. He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Childs and his sister, Adrienne Kim Childs Seay (Kim). Known for his humor and kindness, Andrew brought light to those around him. He enjoyed sports and cherished time spent with family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Seacoast Church in Mount Pleasant, 750 Long Point Road. Interment is scheduled to follow at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
