John Byrd Obituary

John Blake "Johnny" Byrd ST. GEORGE - John Blake "Johnny" Byrd, 55, of 218 Mt. Zion Road, St. George, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 09, 2015 at his mother's home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at St. George United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Theron Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Weeks, Tommy Peagler, Steve Walters, Bill Walters, Doug Hutto and Steve Dukes. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home. Johnny was born on May 1, 1960 in Walterboro, a son of Gloria Murray Byrd and the late Albert Clement Byrd. He was a graduate of St. George High School and was a machinist having been employed by Conoflow and Robert Bosch. He was a guitar player for Live Wire and Dick's Hat Band. He enjoyed teaching the younger children in the family and entertaining the "Byrd" family. He was a member of St. George United Methodist Church. Surviving is his daughter, Jessica J. Byrd, Columbia; his mother, Gloria M. Byrd; a brother, C. Dale Byrd, both of St. George; a sister, Kaye B. Harper, Tega Cay; nieces, Julie Carter, Kristen Hatchell, Stephanie Harper, Angie Reed and a nephew, Matthew Byrd; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
