RANDLEMAN John Daniel "J.D." Brookshire, 91, of Randleman, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. J.D. was born July 10, 1925 in Randleman, NC to Thomas and Bird Bulla Brookshire. He was a loving husband to Maxine Redding Brookshire for 67 years. J.D. graduated from Randleman High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific during World War II. He was a retired rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Randleman and a member of Marlboro Friends Meeting in Sophia. He loved working in the yard, working on cars, and woodworking. In addition to his wife, J.D. is survived by his son Danny Brookshire and daughter-in-law Mary Brookshire of Denton; daughter, Joyce Wolford, son-in-law Jerry Wolford; granddaughter Brooke Wolford of Randleman; sister, Terri Battle of Greensboro and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:30 till 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the Family Life Center at Marlboro Friends Meeting in Sophia. A memorial service will follow at 2:45 p.m. in the meeting house and burial in the meeting cemetery with Pastor Ray Luther officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Randolph County for the loving care provided to J.D. and the family over the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marlboro Friends Meeting, 2668 Marlboro Church Road, Sophia, NC 27350. Online condolences may be made at www.pughfuneralhome.com.
