John Adcox Obituary

John Anson Adcox SUMMERVILLE - John Anson Adcox, 72, of Summerville, husband of Gladys Varnes Adcox died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Trident Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 3 o'clock at New Hope Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Sunday from 2 o'clock until the hour of service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: New Hope Methodist Church, Building Fund, 1253 Jedburg Road, Summerville, SC 29483. Johnny was born July 9, 1937 in Lumberton, North Carolina, son of the late Anson and Dolly McLean Adcox. He attended Massey Hill High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #401 in Goose Creek and the 32nd Scottish Rites in Charleston. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a Berkeley County Police Officer for 21 years and worked 9 years of security at the Medical University of South Carolina and the College of Charleston. Surviving in addition to his wife are: one Brother: Roy Edward Adcox ( Virginia) of New Hope. Nephews: Donald Edward Adcox (Debra) and Kenneth Roy Adcox both of New Hope, Paul Edward Adcox of Moncks Corner. Sisters-in-law: Frances Griffin of Neeces, SC and Gertie Spires of Swansea, SC. To the Adcox family, my name is Charles Walker, my Dad was Chief Walker.(of Hanahan Fire Dept. & Goose Crk. Fire Dept.)Very sorry to hear of your loss. Daddy and Mr.Adcox were good friends. Iremember going to your hse. when I was small. Daddy passed 1-4-06. Hopefully they'll meet again !

To the Adcox family,Sorry for your loss of Mr. Adcox.Growing up in Hanahan with him as a police officer was a great time.He was always fun to be around and agreat role model for all us kids.He was stearn but not to much.When we got into trouble he would scold us and if it was bad enough he would Take us home to our parents and they would take care of it and not go to court or jail.He was a great Guy.You and your family will be in my prayers
