JoAnn Leigh Obituary

JoAnn Meermans Leigh ISLE OF PALMS - JoAnn Meermans Leigh, 60 years, young of Isle of Palms, SC, went home with the Lord on Tuesday October 27, 2015. She was born in Lakewood, Ohio on August 16, 1955. She was the daughter of Marge and Leroy Meermans. JoAnn was Midwestern born but had a Caribbean soul. At 20 years old, she paid cash for a 1974 Mustang, loaded it up with all her possessions and moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and never looked back! After attending Ft. Lauderdale Art Institute studying interior Design, her island life began. She lived in the Florida Keys, Goat Island and Isle of Palms. She also purchased a piece of paradise in Costa Rica. She followed the music of steel drums and a piano to the last day of her life with her family and friends. JoAnn was an Isle of Palms resident for 30 years and a professional realtor, helping people buy and sell there pieces of paradise for 29 years. She was an active member of Sea Coast Church. In addition to her mother and father, JoAnn is survived by her long life partner, Jay Leigh, her loving children Jamie Leigh Hammes (Nathan) and Jordan Leigh; her siblings, - Laura Meermans Cavans, Bruce Meermans, and Robin Meermans; grandchildren, AnnaRae Leigh Hammes, LilliAnn June Hammes, and Jeremiah Andrew Hammes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in JoAnn's honor to the American Brain Tumor Association. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
