Joan Suggs Obituary

Joan Suggs Lancaster, sc - Joan Harriette Moore Suggs, 84, of Lancaster, SC, entered heavenly peace on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She was born August 11, 1932 in Roberta, GA, to the late William James Moore and the late Cornelia Mary Smith Moore Mazerski. Joan was the wife to the late Morgan Leon Suggs and a mother to the late Steven Wayne Suggs. Joan enjoyed her Georgia heritage and loved being known as a "Georgia Peach." She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. She had multifaceted interests varying from cooking, sewing, real estate, church activities, and an avid shopper. Survivors of Ms. Suggs include two siblings, Linda Moore Stotsbery and Robert T. Moore; children include her son M. L. Suggs, Jr. "Lee" and his wife Mary of Lancaster, SC; daughter-in-law Bethany Suggs of Tulsa, OK; daughter Jennifer Suggs Felts and her husband Jeff of Kannapolis, NC; daughter Candace Suggs Smith and her husband Adrian of Andrews, SC; grandchildren Kristen, Rebekah, and husband Blake, Noel Danielle, Jessica, Michael, Lindsay, Patrick, Crystal, and her husband Andrew, Megan, Scott, Emily, and her husband Bryan. Ms. Suggs had four great- grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive family and friends at McLean Funeral Directors-Mahaffey Chapel at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2017. A funeral service will be held at McLean Funeral Directors-Mahaffey Chapel at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 25, 2017 with Rev. Larry Helm officiating. A graveside service will be held at Lancaster Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church 1426 Great Falls Hwy, Lancaster, SC 29720 and The Alzheimer's Foundation of America 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
