Jimmie Waddell Obituary

Jimmie Ray Waddell WALTERBORO - Mr. Jimmie Ray Waddell, 64, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest early Monday morning, March 28, 2016, at the Roper Hospital in Charleston. Funeral services will be conducted 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2016, from Great Swamp Baptist Church, 3396 Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro. The Reverend Jack Padgett, The Reverend Ricky Crosby, and The Reverend Patrick Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 2 o'clock that afternoon in the church sanctuary. Born December 22, 1951 in Walterboro, South Carolina, he was the only child of the late Jimmie Ray Waddell and the late Lennis Ritter Waddell. Jimmie was a well-known Master Marine Mechanic having retired from Lowcountry Marine in Walterboro where he worked for over thirty years. Jimmie was a friend to everyone he met, able to fix or create most anything. He was a Charter Member of the Colleton Rural Fire Department, having devoted countless hours to its operation and service. He was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church in Walterboro, where over the years he was faithful in attendance and dedicated to help where needed in the church's work. An avid outdoorsman, he possessed a great love for fishing as well as hunting, always able to share a story about a trophy bass or record buck. For many years, he worked in an assistant Wildlife Officer position alongside the late Mr. Guerry Hill, whom he always considered a great friend and mentor. Surviving are: his wife of twenty-seven years, Mrs. Donna Crosby Waddell; a son, Joshua M. Bowers of Walterboro; and two grandchildren, Sharon Alexis Bowers and Abigail Lennice Bowers. He is also survived by Donna's family whom he loved dearly and knew each by his own affectionate nickname, her parents, Donald and Mary Alice Crosby; her brother, Timmy Crosby and his wife Karen; and her sister, Sandra Crosby Howell all of Walterboro. He is also survived by three very dear cousins, Peggy Breazelle, Pat Cotton, and George Waddell; as well as a host of special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a beloved "Aunt V", Vera Lee Ritter; a brother-in-law, Jeff Howell; and a cousin, Wade Waddell. Arrangements by: THE BRICE W.
