Jessie Hancock Obituary

Jessie Lee McManus Hancock LAMAR, SC - Jessie Lee McManus Hancock, age 90, widow of Henry Hancock, died Sunday, July 12, 2015, at the McLeod Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15th at Lamar First Baptist Church, with burial following in Zion Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Born October 2, 1924, in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Marion McManus, Sr., and the late Maggie Windham McManus. She was a devoted housewife who had a strong love for children, her family and for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Lamar First Baptist Church, and had taught 4-5 year-old Sunday School Class for 70 years. She is survived by her son, Rev. Charles Gene (Gail) Hancock of Bishopville, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Lettie D. Freeman of Florence. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Earl Hancock, sisters, Esther Windham, Mary Meggs, and her brother, Tom McManus. The family wishes to express their gratitude to special family caregivers, Jane Weaver and Alice McManus for their love and care for Jessie. A Visitation will be held from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Belk Funeral Home in Lamar.
