Jessie Garrett Obituary

Jessie Lee Jackson Garrett, 88, of Cross, SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday afternoon at her residence. Mrs. Garrett was a devoted homemaker who also worked in various sewing rooms and was a former employee of William Heller. Mrs. Garrett was born April 24, 1937, in Orangeburg County, SC, a daughter of Thomas Jackson and Annie Lee Weatherford Jackson. She was an active member of Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served in the WM department and contributed her time in the kitchen during bible school. Mrs. Garrett had a passion for tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed watching hummingbirds. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, were the center of her world. Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her sister Lottie Bell Scott, and was the widow of Virgil Monroe Garrett. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Clark and her husband Mark of Cross, SC; her son, Virgil Garrett and his wife Denise of Cross, SC; her sisters, Mattie Bolen and Hattie Gainey both of Eutaw Springs, SC, and Minnie Infinger and her husband John of Holly Hill, SC. Mrs. Garrett also leaves behind six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild expected in February, along with her loving dog Muffin. Her funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, October 1, 2025, at the Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Cross, SC, with interment following at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 PM until the hour of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 278, Cross, SC 29436, or to the WM at Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2584 Mudville Rd., Cross, SC 29436.
