Jesse C. Goldsmith Summerville - Jesse C. Goldsmith, 99, of Summerville, husband of the late Mabel A. Goldsmith, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 6 to 8 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Monday, March 5, 2018at 3 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Summerville Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 174 East Bay St. Suite 300, Charleston, SC 29401, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Bacons Bridge Free Worship center, 1816 Bacons Bridge Rd., Summerville, SC 29485. Jesse was born on August 21, 1918 in Walnut, NC. Son of the late Earl and Leila Goldsmith. He was well known by everyone as "Mr. Smitty" or "Papaw". He was a mechanic who enjoyed working on cars. Jesse served 30 years with the SC Forestry Commission. He also worked for the Dorchester County Sheriff's Department. He loved catfishing and spending time in the mountains. He was an avid Braves fan. Jessie is survived by: one granddaughter: Monica Guyton (Lloyd) of Summerville; four greatgrandchildren: Dana Jacobs (William) of Goose Creek, Justin Douglas of Summerville, Travis Douglas of Summerville, and Brittney Guyton of Summerville; six great-greatgrandchildren: Noah, Nathan, Eli, Alexis, Allison and Bristol.
