Jesse Ferguson Obituary

FERGUSON, Jesse RIDGEVILLE - Mr. Jesse Calvin Ferguson, husband of Elizabeth Rentz Ferguson, died Friday evening at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro after an extended illness. He was 83. Mr. Ferguson was born January 21, 1923 a son of the late Leon C. Ferguson, Sr. and Sheppie F. Ferguson. He retired as a Civil Service truck driver for the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston. He was a Mason for over 50 years with the Round O Masonic Lodge in Cottageville. He was a 32nd Degree Past master Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Scottish Rite. Mr. Ferguson was a member of the Edisto Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ridgeville, where he formerly taught Sunday School. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Survivors, besides his wife of 56 years are two daughters, Pamela J. Ferguson and Loretta F. Dandridge, both of Cottageville; and one son, Matthew Ferguson of Givhans. There are two brothers, Leon C. Ferguson of Cottageville and rufus R. Ferguson of Nipomo, CA; and one sister, Ruth F. Pippins of Saucer, MS. Mr. Ferguson had four grandchildren, Dana L. and Aaron A. Dandridge and Kendall and Stephanie Ferguson, as well as two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Brice Chesnut. He was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Leonard Ferguson; a daughter, Deborah F. Wadford, and a grandson, Henry D. Wadford. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial following in the Meeting House Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
