Jerry McBrayer Obituary

Jerry L. McBrayer Summerton, SC - Jerry L. McBrayer, 74, of Summerton, SC, went to be with his Heavenly Father Thursday, March 23, 2017, with his loving family by his side. Jerry was born August, 23, 1942, in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Archie McBrayer and Claire Baldin McBrayer. At a young age, Jerry's family relocated to South Carolina. He was an Auto Mechanic who was passionate about his trade. He will be remembered for his many projects and his vast knowledge of just about everything. He was a wonderful grandfather to his three grandchildren, who will miss the adventures and the sweet-natured teasing of their Papa. His family will dearly miss his playful spirit and his daily scheduled phone calls. In addition to his parents, Jerry was recently predeceased by his sister, Barbara Whitaker. He is survived by his children, JoAnna McBrayer and Kenneth McBrayer (Judy); grandchildren, Hunter McBrayer, Tessa McBrayer, Kynlee McBrayer and the newest addition to arrive in September. He also leaves his sisters, Peggy Holland, Sue Turner (Leon) and Sherrie Kuhn (Kevin); brother, Kenneth McBrayer (Annette); his long-time companion, Esther Brown; his dear friend Raymond Cook (Michelle) and a host of cousins, other family and friends. There will be a memorial service on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Santee Circle Community Church, at 1258 N Highway 52, Moncks Corner, SC 29461 at 12:30 p.m. with a private graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Santee Circle's upcoming mission trip to Honduras to provide medical care and basic amenities to children in need. Jerry accompanied his son, Kenneth, to Honduras in 2005 and delivered aid to an orphanage and families in the community they served. He was fulfilled by his time there and had dreams of returning. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmetto Cremation Society, Charleston, SC. Condolences may be made at www.palmettocremationsociety.com. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston

May God give all Jerry's family the strength they will need during this sad time of loss. Jerry was my precious cousin, I have many memories that he is leaving behind, he had a sweet loving spirit, and that is what God has called on home. I know he is now walking on streets paved with gold, while singing, down by the river side, with aunt Clara, uncle Archie, mommaw, poppaw, his siblings, and many more beautiful angels. Fly high Jerry, and you will be missed, until we meet again in the sweet bye and bye, your Alabama cousin, Louise.

Kenneth and Joanna, was so sorry to hear this news. Remember that special time that you (Kenneth) and your dad spent the week at the farm with us in Honduras. He so enjoyed himself and was always so helpful. I know you will all miss him. It hasn't been too long ago I saw him over at the Pinopolis Methodist Church at a Crunch Bunch lunch just last year. First time I had seen and talked with Jerry since 2005. I know you all will miss him dearly. It's never easy to lose a loved one. Prayers to you and your family. Denise & Bob McWhorter

Uncle Jerry, you will be greatly missed. I can remember being younger and I was so amazed by some trick where you would make it look like you could pull your thumb off. Playing poker with you, and Mr,Ware when you lived in New Hope. But what will ALWAYS stay in my mind is that you were the best babysitter to Carol. When you would go for a visit to Alabama you would tell me to pack her some clothes. You would just take her wherever, and whenever you felt like doing something. I still have pictures you took of her sitting in granny, and papa's kitchen where she is sitting in a big pot, and sitting and playing in the bottom of the stove. You were the best. Love you
