I was thinking about Jerry just the other day. He once told my brother, who has walked during a deep conversation Jerry and I were having, that there´s no way way he could understand what we were saying because "his teeth were too white" . Somehow it made perfect sense.

I miss the man. Fly on brother.

I knew Jerry when we were both freshman at WVU in 1983-84. I haven't spoken to him since then, but thought of him often. In this age of internet information I decided to Google him and was shocked and saddened to hear of his passion. Every time I hear CSNY Deja Vu I thought of him and will continue to do so.

Jerry was one of the most unique people I have ever known. You couldn't help but like him. His stories, his laughter, his love for music - he was so full of life. Just thinking about him makes me smile. He has always been, and forever will be linked in my mind to SRV. Whenever I hear that unmistakable tone, on which Jerry could (and would) wax philosophically for hours, I think of Jerry's smiling face. You will be missed, my brother.

I hope someone can tell me if and when and where a memorial will be.

It saddens me to just find out about the passing of a friend . Jerry inspired me with his amazing personality , it was larger than life . On my worst days growing up , he always made me smile . I met Jerry because of a common bond which was a love for Blues Music , more specific the love of SRV and Jimi Hendrix . He was the kind of guy that if he couldn't find me , he would call my mom just to make her laugh , if only for an hour or so . The only solace i take in all this is the fact that Jerry is in great company and a better place now . You will be missed JG . Peace be with you big man .

Thank you Jerry for our long conversations on Blues Music & Blues guitarist in the 90's. I'll never forget the time we talked about Stevie Ray & Double Trouble opening for Tha' Stones
at Wembley Stadium in London. The whole crowd was BOOing & throwing water bottles at him and the band. Stevie pulled down his wide brim hat to let the crowd know he wasn't goin anywhere. HA! Jerry when you told me the crowd turned by the 3rd song and then was chanting his name at the end of the set..WOW! I couldn't contain my laughter & joy! You will be missed my dear.

Jerry was "one of a kind" in the best sense of the term. Let all who miss him take some comfort that there are so many of us.

Diane and I had the honour of knowing Jerry and count the Grogan family among our friends. Holiday dinners with Jim and Kathy will not be the same without Jerry's smile and the interplay between two brothers who loved each other.

Our prayers are with the entire Grogan family and his Ozzfest friends. He will be sorely missed by us all.

To Jerry's family and friends:

Jerry and I talked at least weekly about the Yankees, Giants, Mountaineers, Gamecocks, Columbia SC, and life in general. He was always welcome at my house in Columbia and he visited me several times after he moved to Florida. I travelled to see him a few times as well. One trip in particular stands out - my two boys were maybe 10 and 12 years old. We went to Gibsonton and explored the unusual town - home to a lot of carnival folks in the offseason. I've got a special photo from that trip - Jerry with a giant wide bright green polka dot tie, my son Josh with giant teeth in place and my son Bob with "devilsticks". My boys loved Jerry.

Jerry was a great friend - great sense of humor, great talker and a great listener too. We were making plans for a summer baseball trip. I miss my friend, and my thoughts are with you all.

I will always remember Jerry as a great big smile on top of a great big guy.
All those bloody Ozzfests!
He came to see us on the Heaven and Hell tour in 2007 and, as ever, it was a pleasure to see him and bask in the warmth of that smile!!!!!
Why do we work in this stupid game? Because we love music, and that's what Jerry did, in spades.
Much love and respect to your memory dear brother.... and in your own words...Hey, it's the Happy Hippo.
